Can I register a death in Suffolk which happened elsewhere?

If the death occured in another county, you may attend a Register Office in Suffolk to make a ‘declaration’. The death certificates and all other paperwork will be posted out to you from the Registrar local to where the death occurred a few days later. This could potentially delay the funeral, so discuss this with the undertaker.

If the Coroner is involved, the Registrar cannot register the death until the Coroner’s permits it. His officers will keep the family informed.
