Funeral Directors Eastbourne Polegate Hailsham
Most of these funeral directors are independent funeral directors (hopefully ALL of them – we just can’t guarantee that they haven’t been bought out recently) and also members of SAIF. Losing a loved one is a desperately emotional experience ids not a regular occurrence. Yet at this very moment of deep grief, some important and difficult decisions still need to be made. You may prefer to obtain help from an independent firm rather than a target driven conglomerate or big national organisation.
This is where we hope that the compassion, professionalism and community commitment of a SAIF independent funeral director can help to make things just that little bit less stressful for you and your family.
Within this section of our website, you will find explanations of some of the procedures and terms that may be encountered when arranging a funeral, SAIF initiatives aimed at helping people understand better the role of the independent funeral director, and links to other professional organisations and bereavement counselling providers.
Social Fund Contribution to Funeral Directors Fees
You may be eligible to ask for a help from the social fund towards the cost of the funeral directors fees.Applications are each considered on merit. The social fund will normally only pay the cost of the burial authority or crematorium and a proportion of the funeral directors fees.It is very rare that the social fund will cover the cost of the funeral as a whole. You can ask for a claim to be considered if you are responsible for making the funeral arrangements and you or your partner are receiving any of the following:
1. Income Support
2. Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
3. Pension Credit.
4. Housing Benefit
5. Council Tax Benefit
6. Working Tax Credit with a disability or severe disability element included.
7. Child Tax Credit at a rate higher than the family element. When the death is registered the Registrar will provide you with a Registration of Death certificate (Form BD8) which is required to make a claim from the social fund. This should be taken to your local DWP office with the following documents (if they are available).
· Deceased’s Birth Certificate
· A Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
· National Insurance Contribution Card
· DWP Pension or Allowance books
· Social Fund Claim Form (SF200)
· The final account from the Funeral Director
The claim can be made up to three months after the death but it is advisable to do this as soon as possible. The payment from the fund is usually in the form of a Giro Cheque and normally payable to the Funeral Director. Any payment which is made from the fund can be recovered by the DWP should funds become available from the deceased estate. Funeral Directors East Sussex
Here is what East Sussex County Council have to say:
Civil funerals and remembrance ceremoniesReligious funerals may not be suitable for everyone. A civil funeral or remembrance ceremony offers a unique and sensitive alternative to a traditional funeral.
Friends and family members will be encouraged to take part. They can include favourite music, readings and treasured memories.
Civil funerals
The civil funeral ceremony is suitable for a cremation, a burial or for burying ashes. They are generally non-religious, but may include a hymn and a prayer.
Civil funerals usually take place at a crematorium, cemetery chapel or at a non-religious graveside. However they can be held at any appropriate place, except for churches or religious buildings.
Remembrance ceremonies.
A remembrance ceremony celebrates the life of a loved one. It could take place at any time after a funeral, at any suitable venue. This could include a private home, a hotel or a favourite place.
A remembrance ceremony is particularly suitable for situations such as a death overseas where no funeral is possible, or on the anniversary of a death.
Organising a civil funeral or remembrance ceremony.
A trained person (known as a Funeral Celebrant) will discuss with you the best way to commemorate the life of your loved one. We will work closely with funeral directors, cemetery and crematoria staff to deliver a personal and dignified service.
For more information about booking your ceremony, please contact your nearest registration office.
