Index: Where to Register a Death in England and Wales:
How to Register a Death locally and much more on what to do when someone dies, with details of every Register Office in England and Wales, what information is needed, who can carry out the Registration. Local Coroners are involved in almost half of the cases, so you may need their contact details. Then we continue to funerals, wakes, and then dealing with the legal stuff of probate. Put another way, find a register office near me, or register a death near me. Some people search for BMD near me.
I believe we have details of every Local Register Office in England and Wales, most with much additional information to help families and executors.
Here is our printable list of the documentation and questions the Registrar will need you to produce at the appointment. If you can’t find anything, best ask the Registrar before you go. It is a PDF.
More importantly, where to get the help you need, and most other issues from Locksmiths to Coroners to Cemeteries and Crematoriums for each area. If your business should be listed, see the bottom of this page (click).
If tmp appears next to your area, it has not yet been reviewed, and a new window will open giving the Local Councils information, which will just be concerning Registration.

What To Do When Someone Dies in England or Wales: Checklist

Discover what to do after someone dies, and who should do what. Not all will be relevant to your circumstances, but it is not easy to remember everything you need to do after a person dies. In an ideal world, the necessary information would already be collated into one folder in advance. It is always a stressful situation.
What to do after a death is continued in our free guide and on each Local Page. But this page did get too long, so I recommend you read this page too, especially the part about funeral directors and funeral plans. There are also links to various other topics which are closely related. Our Free Guide to Probate is here. How, who and where to Register a Death. We are pleased to be able to draw this free guide to what to do on death to your attention.
